The hilltop village of Kompitsi is only 5 kilometers from the airport and Corfu Town, and a 20- minute drive to the most beautiful beaches on the island. Corfu Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with unique Venetian fortresses, the English Palace and its museums and galleries, the famous Parisien “Liston” boulevard with open restaurants and cafes and dozens of restaurants, squares, bars and boutiques to captivate you and provide postcard photos and people-watching experiences. It is only a 10 to 15 minute drive from the Villa.
The best sandy beaches, Glyfada, Kontogialos, and Paleokastritsa, are 15 to 20 minutes drive, and have excellent beach chairs, water sports, rental boats, bars, and tavernas. Advance reservations recommended in the peak season of July and August. Pebble beaches on the popular east coast, with their bars and nightlife, are a 25 to 30 minute drive.
The famous Achilleion Palace of Queen Sisi and Bond movie fame is 10 kilometers to the south. Many other attractions are available on Corfu, including wineries, a water park, golf, and museums and galleries. Daily boat tours to the neighboring islands of Paxi and Anti-Paxi are very popular. Sightseeing, bicycling, and other tours can be arranged online or through agencies throughout the island.
